Look Who’s Shaping Up at the Body Shop!- Mary Beth Hutton

The Body Shop Fitness Center has been serving the Rehoboth Beach community since 1989. Mary Beth Hutton has been working out at the Body Shop for over 10 years and is the owner of the Rehoboth Beach Running Company located in Downtown Rehoboth Beach!

  1. How long have you been living in the area?

“I've been living in the area full time for 16 years.”

  1. What is your favorite thing about living at the beach?

“I love running on the boardwalk and walking on the beach. I love the small town feel of Rehoboth. The other business owners are very supportive of each other!”

  1. What is your favorite thing about your business/profession?

“I own Rehoboth Beach Running Company and I organize the Rehoboth Marathon & Half marathon.  It's great to meet runners, walkers, and people interested in fitness. More people than ever are incorporating fitness in their lifestyle. The marathon is almost sold out and it's a couple months away. It's so rewarding to see people come from all over the country to our small town, in the off season.”

  1. Why did you incorporate fitness into your life?

“I didn't do a lot of regular exercise when I was younger. After college, I started running and doing some strength training. I was talked into the Philadelphia marathon and the Dewey beach triathlon when I was 36. They were both so much fun! Since then, I've done some other marathons, a few Ironman triathlons, and a lot of shorter running races and triathlons. These days, I mostly run the local races with friends, and I participate in our local pub run club.  I work out with Kevin Danahy, from tricoach, at the body shop once a week. I like to workout with a trainer to make sure I do the exercises properly. Also, he pushes me to work a little harder. I feel great when I work out. The days I exercise I always feel better than the days I don't.”

  1. When did you start working out at the Body Shop?

“I've been working out at the Body shop for at least 10 years. I love running, biking, and swimming, but I realized strength training is important for keeping me fit and injury free.”

  1. Favorite health tip to share:

“My favorite health tip is to start small. If you want to run, start with a couch to 5k program. If you want to strength train, hire a trainer. They have all kinds of programs for people of all ages and abilities. If you want to do a 5k. you don't have to run it all or any of it. You can walk.”
