Some Great Ways to Celebrate the 2020 Christmas Season This Weekend in the Coastal Region

December 9, 2020

It’s beginning to look and feel a lot like Christmas at the Delaware and Maryland beaches! So get on out there and enjoy this special time of the year by doing whatever it is that makes you happy.

And on that note, we’ve got a few worthwhile options to tell you about in today’s “Weekender Blog,” brought to you each and every Wednesday by the real estate professionals at the Oldfather Group of Ocean Atlantic Sotheby’s International Realty.

It’s a great time of year to take advantage of the bevy of tax-free shopping options that are available in coastal Delaware, something to keep in mind if you haven’t yet secured gifts for everyone on your “nice list” this year.

And we do of course encourage you to shop local whenever possible. We’re blessed to have some great shops and restaurants here in the coastal region and they’ve obviously had a tough year in 2020, as most of us have.

But Christmas is a time to spread good cheer, right? And if you’re still shopping for your loved ones, shops in downtown Rehoboth Beach, Lewes, Bethany Beach and other areas at and near the beaches are open for business and would love to have you stop by.

In fact, it’s in that spirit that we kick things off the week by telling you about a special program offered this Christmas season by an icon of Rehoboth Beach.

Keep reading below for more on this and several other great happenings on the calendar for the weekend of December 11-13, right here at the Delaware and Maryland beaches.

Jolly Trolley Holiday Shine Tour (Seasonal). The owners and operators of Rehoboth Beach’s Jolly Trolley are doing their part to support local businesses this holiday season by offering special transportation options in the downtown areas of the “Nation’s Summer Capital,” as well as neighboring communities.

Offered every evening during the holiday season, the Jolly Trolley is offering special treats on board several of its vehicles that are sourced from locally owned businesses in the Rehoboth Beach area.

Riders can expect perks like freshly baked cookies, steaming apple cider, holiday gift cards, hot chocolate, yummy treats and other extras served up with an eye toward promoting local businesses during the holidays.

These personalized tours start every day in the late afternoon and have been encompassing some of the local light shows (read more about these below). There’s no set end time for the tours, but that can be worked out with the driver during the course of the evening.

There are occupancy limits in place due to current state protocols and organizers stress that these private tours are only for family members and others living together in the same household.

For more information on this special program offered by the Jolly Trolley this holiday season, call 302-644-0200 or visit www.jolleytrolley.com.

ELF The Musical at Clear Space Theatre (Through December 20). View one of the all-time favorite Christmas films in a different way this year, as Clear Space Theatre presents “ELF the Musical” through December 20 at their location in downtown Rehoboth Beach.

This year’s holiday presentation follows the elf named Buddy, made famous by Will Ferrell in the film, as he embarks on a journey from the North Pole to New York to find his birth family.

“ELF the Musical” is a fun and festive way to celebrate this year’s Christmas season. Seats will be limited due to occupancy restrictions, so get your tickets today for any of the shows between Friday, December 11 and Sunday, December 20.

CAMP Rehoboth Handmade Market (December 12). Do some Christmas shopping while supporting a great local organization this Saturday, as CAMP Rehoboth hosts the 2020 “Handmade Market” at its location on Baltimore Avenue.

Scheduled hours for this year’s market are from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Saturday, December 12.

This free event will be held in the courtyard area outdoors and include all sorts of holiday gift items made by local artists. Foot traffic will be controlled due to safety concerns and mask usage is a must.
