St. Patrick's Day Parades Scheduled for This Weekend in Milton and Ocean City

March 9, 2022

If you have green clothes lying around that you've been dying to wear, this is definitely the weekend to dust them off as two big St. Patrick's Day events grab the spotlight in our latest "Weekender Blog," brought to you every week by the real estate professionals at the Oldfather Group of Compass RE.

This is generally the time each year when excitement begins anew at and near Rehoboth Beach. And 2022 is no exception as we have several great things to tell you about for this second weekend of March.

While the two St. Patrick's Day parades and festivals are the headliners, there are also other things to see and do over the next few days in the coastal region.

So let's get right to it! Here are the Oldfather Group's top events for the weekend of March 11-13.

We begin with the aforementioned St. Patrick's Day festivities:

Milton St. Patrick's Day Parade (March 13)

The 14th annual St. Patrick's Day Parade in downtown Milton kicks off on Sunday, March 13, at 2 p.m.

Begun by Irish Eyes in 2008, this event in Milton has grown in size and fun over the years and for the ninth time includes a Lucky Leprechaun 5K at 11 a.m., on Sunday.

Entry fee for the 5K is $40 and proceeds go to benefit a trio of worthwhile local organizations, including the Milton Chamber of Commerce, the Milton Fire Department and the Gladys Wilkins Seeding the Future Scholarship Fund.

The 2021 parade was cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions, so Irish Eyes and the Town of Milton are excited to welcome everyone back for a big celebration in 2022.

As an added attraction when you're in downtown Milton for the parade, the historic Milton Theatre will also be holding a party of its own in its quayside outdoor area.

Lower Case Blues, and Hot Sauce Band will bookend the parade, so bring your own chair and enjoy the day downtown.

St. Patrick's Day Parade & Festival in Ocean City (March 12)

If you're feeling especially energetic and adventureous this weekend, make it a double feature of Irish themed parades by first heading to Ocean City for the resort's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade and Festival on Saturday, March 12.

Sponsored by the Delmarva Irish-American Club, the parade kicks off at noon and will run from 60th to 45th Streets.

The Irish Festival begins at 11 a.m., at the 45th Street Shopping Center and will include live music, dancing and lots of food and drinks.

More than 100 entries are expected in this year's parade in Ocean City. Learn more at delmarvairish.org.

Delaware Resorts Health, Fitness & Leisure Expo (March 12-13)

Cape Henlopen High School is the site this weekend for this fourth annual event, which promises more than 80 exhibitors in a wide range of different health related areas.

Scheduled for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., on Sunday, Beebe Healthcare is the lead sponsor for this year's expo and will be offering free health screenings to all attendees.

Exhibitors encompass many areas of health, fitness and leisure, including outdoor furniture, physical therapy, golf courses, watercraft and several others.
