Summer Vibes Fest Takes Over the Delaware Beaches for Nine Days Beginning on Friday, August 9

Dewey Beach takes center stage over the next few days as the World Championships of Skimboarding once again comes to coastal Delaware as part of the 2019 Summer Vibes Fest.

It should be several days of great fun and excitement at the Delaware beaches, so be sure to check out the full schedule for this multi-day, beach centered event.

And if you’re a fishing fan, plan on visiting Ocean City this Thursday and Friday for the last couple days of this year’s White Marlin Open. You might even catch a glimpse of the legendary Michael Jordan weighing in, before #23 leaves the Maryland coast.

Other featured events this week are in Seaford and Lewes, so keep reading for more on what’s happening in early August in both coastal Delaware and coastal Maryland.

Summer Vibes Fest (August 9-17). This multi-day festival celebrates the summer spirit in coastal Delaware and includes several events and happenings over its nine days.

The festival includes events such as the East of Maui Paddle and Pound SUP Sprint Challenge on August 14, the Big Chill Surf Cantina on August 16, the Rehoboth Am Skate Jam at Epworth Skate Park on August 17 and much more.

The main event of the festival is the Zap Pro/Am World Championships of Skimboarding on August 9-11 in Dewey Beach, which you can read more about below.

Zap Pro/Am World Championships of Skimboarding (August 11). This is the main event of the first Summer Vibes weekend and is a contest that’s been running now for nearly four decades.

This multi-day event attracts more than 100 of the top skimboarders from around the world to compete in Dewey Beach’s famous shore break.

Eastern Shore AFRAM Festival (August 10). Held a short drive inland in Seaford, this annual event celebrates 24 years in 2019 and is the area’s largest celebration of African-American culture.

Enjoy cultural foods, informational exhibits and vendors offering items such as jewelry, beauty products, African textiles, arts and crafts and plenty more. There’s also a huge selection of entertainment in store this year, as always.
