‘The Madness of King George III’ set for Cinema Arts Theater
Written by one of Britain’s best-loved playwrights, Alan Bennett, this epic play, “The Madness of King George III” was also adapted into a BAFTA Award-winning film following its premiere on stage in 1991.
The cast of this new production includes Olivier Award-winners Mark Gatiss in the title role, and Adrian Scarborough.
It’s 1786 and King George III is the most powerful man in the world. But his behavior is becoming increasingly erratic as he succumbs to fits of lunacy. With the King’s mind unravelling at a dramatic pace, ambitious politicians and the scheming Prince of Wales threaten to undermine the power of the Crown, and expose the fine line between a King and a man.
National Theatre Live is a groundbreaking project that presents the best of British theater live from the London stage on film to cinemas across the UK and around the world.
Screenings will be 12:30 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 8; 12:30 p.m., Monday, Dec. 10; and 6 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 11, at the Cinema Art Theater, 17701 Dartmouth Drive in Dartmouth Plaza (behind the Lewes Wawa). Admission for National Theatre Live is $18 for RBFS members, $20 general admission and $15 for ages 15 and under. Customers are encouraged to purchase tickets online. If seats are available, tickets can be purchased at the theater, 30 minutes before the screening.
