‘Beetlejuice Junior’ performances set at Sussex Central May 11-12
As part of the Southern Delaware Festival of the Arts, the Take Two Drama Club of Sussex Central High School will perform “Beetlejuice Junior” at 11 a.m., Saturday and Sunday, May 11 and 12, at the Premiere Center for the Arts, 26026 Patriots Way, Georgetown.
The play is a family-friendly version of the Broadway musical “Beetlejuice,” which was inspired by the classic Tim Burton film.
A delightfully dark comic romp, the musical follows the trials and tribulations of lonely teenager Lydia, who is forced to deal with clueless parents, two desperate ghosts trapped in her attic and a maniacal demon named Beetlejuice who wants to be alive again at any cost. The humor is appropriate for older kids and teenagers, but there are frequent mentions of death and an imaginary afterlife that should be taken into consideration when purchasing tickets. The show is filled with great music, dancing, costumes and special effects.
The festival will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., and entrance is free. Tickets are required to attend “Beetlejuice Junior.” The Sunday show will be followed by a Mother’s Day reception at no cost. To learn more, go to our.show/bjuicejr.
All sales help Take Two with production and licensing costs, and allow the club to produce shows for the community as a nonprofit educational arts group. Concessions will also be available at the show.
