‘POTUS’ to open at Clear Space Sept. 18

September 12, 2025

Clear Space Theatre Company will kick off its fall season productions Thursday, Sept. 18, with “POTUS: Or, Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive,” at 20 Baltimore Ave., Rehoboth Beach.

This unserious, apolitical romp follows the chaos that erupts when the president unwittingly turns a PR nightmare into a global crisis. It’s up to the seven sharp, beleaguered women he relies on most to risk life, liberty and the pursuit of sanity as they scramble to keep the commander-in-chief out of trouble.

The cast includes a mix of new and returning performers. Returning from her recent star turn as Tracy Turnblad in Clear Space’s “Hairspray,” Amanda Briskin-Wallace plays Stephanie, the president’s secretary.

Following her summer appearances as Joanne in “Rent” and Motormouth Maybelle in “Hairspray,” Ashley Williams appears as Chris, an especially inquisitive reporter.

Tara Wisely plays Jean, the president’s press secretary. She appeared earlier this year as Max in “Dial M for Murder.” Carissa Meiklejohn joins the cast as Bernadette, the president’s sister. Her previous Clear Space roles include Rosie in “Mamma Mia!” and Regina in “Rock of Ages.”

Newcomers include Angela Gonzalez as Dusty, the president’s dalliance partner; Susannah Griffin as Harriet, the president’s chief of staff; and Christina Rodden as Margaret, the first lady.
