‘Watermark’ poetry reading held at Lewes library

Elisabeth Stoner's book sales to benefit MERR
April 6, 2017

The Lewes Public Library hosted a poetry reading of Elisabeth Stoner's recently published book, “Watermark.” The event March 25 drew a full house to the library meeting room. The audience was delighted by Stoner's wit and wisdom as she introduced each poem. Stoner's friend Rachel Hickerson read the poems. Common themes such as water, family and reflections on aging are easy to relate to, and her free verse style is accessible to readers.

Proceeds from sales of “Watermark” are being donated to MERR, the Marine Education, Research, and Rehabilitation Institute. Suzanne Thurman, MERR executive director, was at the reading to describe its mission and answer questions. She talked about the importance of the information MERR gathers from stranded animals, plans for MERR's new learning center on Pilottown Road and the organization’s reliance on volunteers.

Stoner is scheduled to offer readings at Abbott's Grill in Milford in the spring and at the Rehoboth Beach Public Library in the fall. Other venues will be announced. A different selection of poems will be presented at each reading. Copies of “Watermark” are available for $15. To purchase a copy, email stoner555@comcast.net.
