11th annual Delmarva Bike Week set for Sept. 15-18

August 17, 2011

Delmarva Bike Week will rumble into the resort area for 11th edition of the fall event Thursday to Sunday, Sept. 15-18. The event attracts scores of people to Ocean City, Md., making it one of the premier events on the yearly calendar. This year, the organizers have been able to expand the features and keep the admission price free. There is also no fee to park motorcycles at any Delmarva Bike Week location.

Delmarva Bike Week will be featured at Seacrets Nite Club in Ocean City, Winterplace Park and Perdue Stadium in Salisbury, Md., and at Delmarva's local dealership Harley-Davidson of Seaford.

''With the cooperation of key businesses across our area, Delmarva Bike Week continues its decade-long mission of bringing a quality show to our thousands of visitors each September,'' said Bruce Bennett of B Line Inc., promoters of the event. ''Maintaining the key elements of what makes the event successful has remained paramount in this economy.  Keeping free admission and free parking for motorcycles has driven us to increase our partnerships for 2011. This has paid off with more quality entertainment for 2011 and a better show for our visitors.''

While Seacrets remains one of the most popular stops on the four-pronged Delmarva Bike Week show, Harley-Davidson of Seaford has squeezed out a little extra space in its Enchanted Forest with better parking to support its 18 vendors, live music and picnic table atmosphere.

Winterplace Park remains the hub of Delmarva Bike Week, adding some big-name motorcycle industry displays like Vance & Hines to a 100-vendor relaxing park layout that also features The Wall of Death thrill show as well as live music all four days of the event.

Winterplace Park also is where signs and the awarding of free giveaways are held. Delmarva Bike Week longtime partner Truck 'N America will award an enclosed motorcycle trailer on Sunday, and BC Cycles will again giveaway a motorized cooler. Entry is free for both giveaways.

Also awarded on Sunday afternoon will be the Cruzin The Coast Pin Run winner. Riders visit 8 of 11 pin run stops and then return to sign-up spots at Winterplace Park, Perdue Stadium and Harley-Davidson of Seaford to be entered to win a 50/50 drawing on Sunday afternoon. The winner gets half and the Spuck & Lib Bennett Scholarship Fund gets the other half.

Last year's winner took home just over $3,000, which was also matched to the charity.
