Dolle’s Candyland moving from Rehoboth Boardwalk

Last week’s historic photo showed damage from the March 1962 nor’easter that flattened the Dolle’s building, much of the resort’s Boardwalk, and many other oceanfront structures. This photograph shows the rebuilt Dolle’s structure, Boardwalk and other buildings in the years shortly after that infamous storm.
A close look at the Dolle’s roof shows the shadow of the iconic sign that has been a landmark fixture at the end of Rehoboth Avenue in the many decades since. Unless current plans change for the relocation of Dolle’s, that sign may soon become another part of Rehoboth’s vanishing history.
