Boardwalk in early 1940s, before Dolle’s sign
December 7, 2021
With the pending removal of the iconic Dolle’s saltwater taffy sign from atop the building at the corner of the Boardwalk and Rehoboth Avenue in Rehoboth Beach, we thought it would be interesting to show that corner before the Dolle’s sign was erected. That came after reconstruction associated with the March storm of 1962. This picture postcard mailed in 1942 shows the historic corner prior to destruction of the buildings by the storm 20 years later.
