Agnes Christine Roundtree, awesome cook

Agnes Christine Roundtree was born in Fellsmere, Fla., in the family home Jan. 18, 1940, by midwife to Eddie and Ossle May Williams. She was better known as Christine or Chris for most of her life. She departed this life Saturday, Oct. 9, 2021.

Christine was raised in Fellsmere and attended Fellsmere Elementary and High School. She loved to laugh, dance and be around her best friend and cousin Anne Rose. As a young woman, Christine fell in love and moved to Delaware with her husband of 60 years and her daughter.

Once in Delaware Christine worked various jobs including the Henlopen Hotel and Cargill “Allen Food” Poultry Plant, where she retired after 33 years. Christine only had one daughter, but from that child had a total of 27 grands and great-grandchildren that she loved and nurtured dearly. Christine was an awesome cook and beloved matriarch of her family.

Christine was preceded in death by her parents, Ossle May and Eddie Williams; siblings Ralph and Eddie Williams Jr., all from Florida; and her beloved daughter Judith Williams of Delaware.

Christine leaves to cherish her memories her husband, James Roundtree Jr. of Milton; one sister, Louise Williams; and one brother, Jackie Williams of Florida; four grandchildren Corvetta Williams, Veronica Hall, Lifiate Louis (Melissa), Pierre Louis (Geefdine) of Delaware; 16 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, Oct. 23, at noon, at St. John 2nd Baptist Church, 26602 Mt. Joy Road, Millsboro. Family and friends may visit two hours prior to the service. Professional services entrusted to Bennie Smith Funeral Home, Millsboro.
