Alan Tyson watercolor paintings open at Epworth April 12
The Visual Arts Program at Epworth Church announces a new exhibit of original art by Alan Tyson. The public is invited to an opening reception from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Sunday, April 12, in Scotts Gallery at Epworth United Methodist Church, 19285 Holland Glade Road, Rehoboth Beach. The show will run from April 12 to May 23.
Tyson is a geographic information systems technician in the Kent County Planning Department. He holds a BFA from the Maryland Institute of Art in Baltimore. He majored in graphic design and illustration. Tyson has worked in the typography and design industry for over 30 years in the Washington, D.C. area.
Thanks in large part to his wife of 44 years, Carolyn, Tyson has recently been enjoying watercolor classes in Seaford under the tutelage of Nancy LaPrad. He also works in calligraphy, pencil, and pen and ink. He is a Civil War enthusiast, an avid reader about the assassination of President Lincoln and a trustee at Greenwood United Methodist Church. He frequently visits Epworth, where his father has been an active member for many years.
