Three charged in Georgetown drug bust
Three people face drug charges following a search of their property July 29 near Georgetown.
Members of the Sussex County Drug Unit, Sussex County Governor’s Task Force and the Georgetown Police Department executed a search warrant at a property on the 20000 block of Savannah Road near Georgetown in connection with the distribution of Illegal narcotics from the property. Police said 18 people were detained – five face misdemeanor charges and 10 were released without incident.
During the search of the people detained, vehicles and the property, police said they found $723 in suspected drug proceeds, about 0.19 grams of crack cocaine, 26 pills of medroxyprogesterone, six valacyclovir pills, 69 bupropion pills, 12 gabapentin pills, 22 tadalafil pills, 17 olanzapine pills, 30 spironolactone pills, a digital scale and drug paraphernalia.
Gary Jefferson, 52, of Georgetown; Jamie Reed, 26, of Milford; and Paul Sample, 54, of Georgetown were taken to Troop 4.
Jefferson was charged with maintaining a drug property.
Sample was charged with possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.
Reed was charged with seven counts of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance tier 1, and possession of a controlled substance tier 2.
All were also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
All were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2. Jefferson and Sample were released on unsecured bond – Jefferson on $1,500 and Sample on $3,500.
Reed was committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $24,500 secured bond.
