Couple charged following police chase near Angola
A Salisbury, Md. man and a Delmar, Md. woman face charges July 27 after crashing near Angola following a police pursuit.
A trooper on patrol spotted a Toyota GR86 speeding about 9:14 p.m. on Route 24 near Banks Road east of Long Neck and attempted to pull the vehicle over, police said, but the driver turned off the headlights and continued driving.
The Toyota continued southbound on Sloan Road, police said, and overturned after failing to negotiate a curve. Troopers contacted the occupants of the vehicle, Jeremy Rodriguez Sepulveda, 21, and Tina Berry, 19, and both were taken to an area hospital for nonlife-threatening injuries. Police said Berry told troopers that she was driving the Toyota, but it was later determined that Rodriguez Sepulveda was driving during the pursuit.
After being released from the hospital, police said Rodriguez Sepulveda and Berry were arrested and taken to Troop 7 where they were each charged with felony provide false statement to law enforcement with intent to delay/hinder investigation of a felony and second-degree conspiracy. Rodriguez Sepulveda was also charged with disregard a police officer signal, reckless driving, driving without a valid license, and multiple traffic violations. Both were arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7, and released on their own recognizance.
