American Legion and Rotary honor fallen veterans during holidays

January 2, 2021

American Legion Post 28 partnered with Wreaths Across America to place live greenery at the Delaware Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Millsboro Dec. 19.

Wreaths Across America Chair Teresa Townsend reached out to American Legion Post 28 Commander Jim Beattie to accept 30 extra wreaths to be placed at the post. Beattie requested that Long Neck Sunrise Rotary Club place American flags at the post property on Route 24.

Long Neck Sunrise Rotary President-elect Apryl Parcher met with Beattie and Townsend Dec. 22 to place wreaths at the base of 30 flags set up to represent fallen soldiers.

"It's an honor and a privilege to partner with the American Legion and Wreaths Across America to ensure that all United States soldiers who have passed away have a wreath at their gravesite for Christmas," said Parcher. "We look forward to many more years of working with the legion to support our veterans and their families."

Since 1983, American Legion Post 28 has endeavored to provide veterans and the greater community with a safe and enjoyable experience.
