American Legion Auxiliary Unit 28 in Millsboro gave back to the community Jan. 19 during their annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service.
As a meaningful way to honor King, Auxiliary Unit 28 members and other volunteers filled bags with new, unopened items such as long-sleeve T-shirts, sweatpants, laundry pods, men’s and women's white socks, full-size bottles of shampoo and liquid soap, and much more to be delivered to at-risk veterans at the Wilmington VA Medical Center.
“What an incredible Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service,” said Beth McGinn, Auxiliary Unit 28 vice president. “Over 50 volunteers packed 160 bags, plus boxes of shirts, pants and shoes to support our veterans. I want to thank everyone who showed up and gave their time.”
