American Legion Riders present custom motorcycle

November 12, 2020

For Veterans Day, American Legion Riders Chapter 19 made one Laurel man’s lucky day when he was announced the winner of a custom-built motorcycle given away as part of the Riders’ fundraising for veterans in nursing homes.

The motorcycle was won by Tom Koontz of Laurel, who upon being told the news when reached by phone said, “Really?” in disbelief.

The Riders raised $8,000 for vets in three nursing homes that the Riders adopted: Delmar Nursing and Rehabilitation in Delmar, Atlantic Shores in Millsboro and Harrison House in Georgetown.
