Annual food-packing event set for March 14 at Sussex Central High
Rise Against Hunger, a 501(c)3 nonprofit, will host the Fourth Annual Community Wide Food Packing Event Saturday, March 14, at the Sussex Central High School cafeteria, 26044 Patriots Way, Georgetown.
The goal is to pack up to 100,000 meals March 14. To date, financial support for the food and shipping costs to get these meals to needy children has been provided by Grace United Methodist Church in Millsboro, Mountaire Farms, Georgetown/Millsboro Rotary Club, Frankford Community Church, Mount Pleasant and St. George’s United Methodist churches, and individual community contributors. Contributions totaling $40,000 are needed to support the 100,000-meal goal.
Event setup will begin at 5 p.m., Friday, March 13, and the March 14 packing event will have two sessions, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. This is a hands-on food packing of soy, rice, dehydrated vegetables and vitamins where individuals young and old, and families with children over age 5 can participate and enjoy fun and music while supporting people in need.
Individuals, churches and businesses can volunteer and/or contribute by going to riseagainsthunger.org/register/?id=701Pj00000nnoqoIAA.
