The Rehoboth Beach Film Society continues the 2022 Journey in Art History Exhibition on Screen film series.
EOS is the originator and pioneer of bringing exhibition-based art films to the cinema. Working with top international museums and galleries, EOS creates films which offer a cinematic immersion into the world’s best-loved art, accompanied by insights from the world’s leading historians and arts critics. The four-part series began in January, with brand-new films showing each month through April. The focus of the Journey in Art series is to introduce the works of history’s greatest painters and to provide opportunities to view blockbuster art exhibitions from galleries worldwide.
“Frida Kahlo” will be screened at 2 p.m., Monday, March 7, and 6 p.m., Tuesday, March 8.
Viewers will take a journey through the life of a true icon, Frida Kahlo, to discover her art and uncover the truth behind her often turbulent life.
Filmed extensively at Kahlo’s home La Casa Azul (The Blue House) in Mexico City, this documentary was created in collaboration with experts who knew Kahlo, and those who have studied and curated her work.
Making use of the latest technology to deliver previously unimaginable quality, the film takes an in-depth look at key works throughout her career.
Using letters Kahlo wrote as guides, this definitive film reveals her deepest emotions, and unlocks the secrets and symbolism contained within her art. Exhibition on Screen’s trademark combination of interviews, commentary, and detailed exploration of art delivers a treasure trove of color and a feast of vibrancy.
This personal, intimate film offers unparalleled access to her works, and highlights the source of her feverish creativity, her resilience, and her unmatched passion for life, politics and love.
Admission is $9 for film society members and $11 for nonmembers. Customers are encouraged to purchase admission online at rehobothfilm.com. If seats are available, admission can be purchased at the theater starting 30 minutes prior to each screening.
