Ashley Furio 5K to benefit Children’s Beach House Oct. 11
Children’s Beach House will host the 9th Annual Ashley Nicole Furio Memorial 5K Run & Crooked Crawl Saturday, Oct. 11, at Crooked Hammock Brewery, Lewes.
Event proceeds support CBH’s Margaret H. Rollins Child Development Center, a preschool serving 3- and 4-year-olds with speech-language delays. The run and its accompanying family festival are named to honor Ashley Furio, who passed away at the age of 25 in 2014. She left behind an inspiring legacy of service as an emergency medical technician, nursing student and dedicated volunteer.
“Ashley lived her life helping others,” said Rose Furio, Ashley’s mother. “This event brings people together to celebrate her spirit while supporting a cause she would have loved — helping children thrive.”
Sign-in will start at 8 a.m., with the race start at 9 a.m.. Participants can choose to run, walk or just enjoy the festivities, which include live music and children’s activities.
“Ashley’s joy and generosity are at the heart of this day,” said Rich Garrahan, managing partner at Crooked Hammock. “We’re proud to partner with her family and with Children’s Beach House, whose work makes such a lasting difference for kids in our community.”
