Javier Morales-Roblero
This Cape sophomore defensive lineman absolutely loves football and has developed into one of the Vikings’ most productive defensive players. He’s got a terrific football motor and never takes a play off. Javier has three sacks, 26 tackles and four tackles for loss. He is an unbelievable speed rusher who is strong enough to move people who weigh more or are much taller. A super charismatic kid who is well liked by teammates, Javier does anything that will help his team and is always eager to play the opposing team’s defensive linemen on the scout team in practice. His coaches say he is just tapping into his football potential. "Javier is making a name for himself as a relentless defensive lineman," said his position coach Dwight Tingle. "The sky is the limit for this young man."
Dell Richards
One of the senior captains on the Cape football team, Dell has taken on his leadership role very easily. He is a two-way starter who likely will have a college career on the defensive side of the ball. Dell’s abilities on offense are impressive as well with 15 receptions for 217 yards and two touchdowns. Defensively, he’s a dynamic linebacker who has 23 tackles, two sacks, two interceptions, of which one was returned 96 yards for a touchdown, and a forced fumble. He is one of the most versatile players who can play several positions on both sides of the ball. He is known as a player with power and finesse, blasting through the defensive line or running in the open field. During the winter months, Dell plays small forward on the Cape basketball team.
Jameson Tingle
Arguably the best quarterback in the state, this Cape junior has put up impressive numbers this season. In the last two games, he went 41-for-63 for 563 yards and six touchdowns, and rushed for 188 yards and two scores. A versatile athlete who plays both offense and defense, Jameson can get major air to defend against the toughest receivers. "Jameson's hard work has taken his play to a higher level," said Cape coach Chip Knapp. "He is getting better with each game and is showing why he is one of the top players in the state." Jameson also plays guard/forward on the basketball team and competes in the high jump, long jump, and runs the 200 for the track team. Schools showing interest are Syracuse, Villanova, Penn State, UPenn, Delaware, Del State, Dartmouth, Cornell and Colgate.
Austin Tyndall
A junior striker on the Cape soccer team, this honors and AP student also lends his foot to the Vikings’ football team as a placekicker. He blasted a header on a direct kick from goalie Anton Schierenberg to give the Vikings a 3-2 victory over Caesar Rodney Oct. 16, and less than 24 hours later booted a 30-yard field goal to propel the football team to a 23-21 win over Sussex Central. "We count on him for a lot when it comes to the attacking third," said soccer coach Patrick Kilby. "He is someone to be accounted for when it comes to our opposition." So far this season, he has scored eight goals and had two assists. He has kicked 11 extra points and one field goal in football for 14 points. In the summer, he’s a lifeguard for the Delaware State Parks Beach Patrol at Cape Henlopen State Park.
