Atlantic Sands to host downtown revitalization conference
Downtown Delaware, a program of the Delaware Economic Development Office, will present the inaugural 2010 Delaware-Maryland Downtown Revitalization Conference Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 27-28, at the Atlantic Sands Hotel & Conference Center in Rehoboth Beach.

The conference will include networking opportunities and informational workshops designed to help attendees strengthen their downtown business communities.
Rehoboth Beach is a recipient of the Great American Main Street Award, which recognizes the town’s commitment to historic preservation, its ability to successfully foster small business development and its evolving track record of successful commercial-district revitalization.
The conference, dubbed Revitalize!, will include presentations from leaders of the Delaware and the National Trust Main Street Center. There will also be experienced, small-business specialists on hand, and there will be ample networking opportunities for professionals involved in downtown and preservation efforts. Attendees may also participate in several tours, including Delaware’s new Wine and Ale Trail.
Michael Shuman, director of Research and Public Policy at the Business Alliance for Local Living Economies, will deliver the keynote luncheon talk Tuesday. The afternoon program will feature remarks from Gov. Jack Markell, followed by Anirban Basu, chairman and CEO of Sage Policy Group Inc.
