Attorney Kelly Gelof presents to AVID students at Beacon Middle

December 9, 2018

Beacon Middle School AVID students had the chance to hear from local attorney Kelly Gelof when she presented to the class in November. Gelof is an attorney and managing partner at Tunnell and Raysor, P.A.,  where she is lead counsel for the litigation department.

Gelof shared her experience working as a law clerk in her early teens, and then moving on to Syracuse University where she majored in communications. She attended Widener University School of Law. She encouraged the students to work diligently to achieve their goals, to make connections with everyone anywhere that they can, and to remember that they can do whatever it is they set their minds to do.

AVID is a program designed to close the achievement gap, and is intended for students in the “academic middle” who have a desire to go to college, and the willingness to develop skills and strategies that are necessary for academic success. The program is offered to sixth- to 12th-grade students at Beacon Middle, Mariner Middle, and Cape Henlopen High School.
