Author Patmeena Sabit to discuss ‘Good People’ Feb. 12
The Lewes Public Library and Browseabout Books will welcome author Patmeena Sabit for a discussion and signing of her debut novel, “Good People,” at 5 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 12, at the library, 111 Adams Ave., Lewes, and online via Zoom.
Sabit’s story follows the Sharaf family, long seen as a model of immigrant success in America. When an unthinkable tragedy strikes, their world is upended, and the family finds themselves thrust into the unforgiving court of public opinion. Told through a kaleidoscope of perspectives, the novel is a riveting, provocative, and haunting story of family and the communities that become family in difficult times.
Registration is required, and participants will be asked to select in-person or online attendance. Visit tinyurl.com/AuthorEventsLPL or call 302-645-2733 to sign up.
Sabit was born in Kabul a few years after the Soviet invasion of Afghanistan. When she was a month old, her family fled the conflict and became refugees in Pakistan, joining the millions of other Afghans who had sought refuge there. They later moved to the United States, and she grew up in Virginia. She currently lives in Toronto.
