Backyard Cafe announces Birdhouse in Milton

The Backyard Cafe has formally announced it plans to open a spin-off restaurant on Route 16 in Milton called Birdhouse Rotisserie Kitchen & Market.
Birdhouse will be located across the street at 200 Broadkill Road, the former location of Beaches Seafood. The restaurant will include dinner service, a rotisserie kitchen and a market. Owner Ami Rae said late April is the target kickoff date, but the team wants to make sure everything is right before opening the doors. She said the idea is for the restaurant to be open Monday through Saturday, with the market opening at 11 a.m. and dinner service to start at 4 p.m.
“The space became available just before Christmas and something about it felt right,” Rae said. “I’ve been in the restaurant industry for many years, and Backyard has been part of the Milton community for over a decade. When this opportunity came up right across the street, I spent a weekend working through what concept made the most sense for this corner and this community. I landed on rotisserie. It’s a concept I believe in. It fits the way I think food should be made, and I think Milton is ready for it. What makes Birdhouse a little different is that it’s two things in one space.”
She said the market will have fresh produce, pantry items, prepared foods and a small menu. Dinner will be full service.
“We wanted to build something that could fit into people’s lives in more than one way,” Rae said.
