Bayhealth provides free sports physicals for student-athletes

August 23, 2025

The Bayhealth Family Medicine Residency Program and Bayhealth Medical Group continued their tradition of providing free sports physicals to student-athletes in the community. Held July 26 at Bayhealth Family Medicine, Dover, the event helped local athletes prepare for the upcoming season by ensuring they meet league health requirements.

In all, 63 athletes received physicals from Bayhealth’s team of family medicine residents providing convenient access to healthcare for the community.

This returning event underscores Bayhealth’s commitment to supporting local families, expanding access to preventive care and strengthening the health of Kent and Sussex counties. It also serves as an opportunity to highlight the work of Bayhealth’s Graduate Medical Education Program and its long-term benefits to the region.

Resident physician and event lead Aditya Brahmbhatt, MD, said he and his colleagues were honored to offer this service. “We want to help these student-athletes start their season off healthy and give them the tools to stay strong throughout,” he said. “Sports physicals are a simple but powerful way to protect young athletes and promote lifelong wellness.”

Bayhealth Medical Group Physician Services Vice President Dina Perry, MBA, praised the collaboration and the gratitude shown by families. “It’s powerful when people across Bayhealth come together for our community,” she said. “The feedback from families is always heartfelt, and I’m proud of our team for making this event such a success once again.”

In addition to sports physicals, Bayhealth offers services to support athletes throughout the year, including primary care, sports medicine, physical therapy and more.
