Southern Delaware’s new community information radio station, WWSX on-air at 99.1FM, and online at RadioRehoboth.com, broadcasts music, news, events and local information throughout the week. Sunday mornings, the station offers a unique way to hear sermons from a variety of pastors at several local churches, and two leading national speakers.

From Lewes and Rehoboth Beach to Dewey Beach and surrounding areas, the nonprofit radio station reaches and serves visitors and residents, which in turn supports local businesses and communities.

David Forman, the station’s marketing manager, said reserving Sunday mornings for faith-based programming presents a rare opportunity to share messages from a number of community churches. Residents can now hear several sermons from different local pastors and enjoy national programming to strengthen their faith.

“Sunday programming presents an even greater mission – to reach weekend tourists and seasonal residents who likely won’t regularly attend church while visiting,” said Forman.

Forman says he hopes the majority of beach and resort visitors will become familiar with entertaining and informative programming on Radio Rehoboth 99.1 through the week.

“Hopefully many will find their dials still tuned to 99.1 on Sunday mornings, and hear something that may brighten their day, renew their faith, or maybe even reconnect or start a new relationship with God,” he said.

Sunday morning includes national and local programming, and contemporary Christian music between start times. Additional local churches are invited to be a part of programming by contacting the studio. Sunday morning content provides uplifting messages to strengthen listeners’ faith and reach visitors whose plans may not have included Sunday services.

• 7 a.m. -  “Leading the Way” Dr. Michael Youssef
• 7:30 a.m. - "Insight for Living,” with Chuck Swindoll
• 8 a.m. - Bay Shore Community Church with Pastor Joel Tice
• 9 a.m. - The Crossing, Pastor Mark Magee
• 10 a.m. - Crossroad Community Church, Pastor Rick Betts

Forman said, “With Resurrection Sunday and the start of spring, we are just about to realize our mission of reaching hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world, who were most likely not headed to church, with the Gospel message of truth and hope.” Forman says this presents an urgency to the station’s financial needs. “Would you prayerfully consider a tax-deductible donation of any amount to help underwrite our Sunday witness programming?” said Forman. Broadcasting from the top of its Rehoboth Studios, the station now reaches Southern Delaware beach communities from Lewes to Dewey Beach, with plans to move its transmitter to a higher tower on Route 1 which will greatly extend its already impressive coverage area to include coastal towns farther south and additional surrounding areas. To meet this objective and to cover general operating expenses, Radio Rehoboth 99.1 FM also seeks title and programming underwriting.

Retailers, restaurants, builders, real estate agencies, banks and other local businesses will benefit from affiliation with the local station with measurable results in new business and client retention. Underwriting of nonprofit public radio is unique in that support dollars are tax deductible as donations.

Radio Rehoboth also offers membership to the public. Donations are tax-deductible. Studios are located just before the traffic circle in Rehoboth Beach, at 37290 Rehoboth Ave. Ext., and will be open to the public this spring with visitor information and discount coupons to local businesses.
