December 20, 2021

Beacon Middle School seventh-grader Ainsley Rineer earned top honors in Delaware in the Lions Club International Peace Poster contest.

“That's three years running that Beacon students have won the competition for the state,” said Beacon art teacher Alex Louvis.

Rehoboth Beach Lions Club President Tom Foster presented Ainsley Dec. 8 with a $50 check from the Delaware Lions Club and a $50 check from Rehoboth Lions Club as an award. Ainsley’s artwork will now be considered at the regional level.

Sixth-grader Alisson Nunez-Urias was named runner-up.

Earlier this fall, Beacon art students had the opportunity to enter the annual art contest hosted by Lions Clubs around the world.

Students participating use their creativity to design pieces of art that express their visions and views of what peace means to them. Winners advance from local to state to regional contests, then to national competitions before reaching the international level.
