The Beacon boys’ basketball squad played hard, but couldn’t overcome a big, fast Milford team Jan. 4, as the Vikings fell 51-27 to move to 4-2 on the season. The Bucs are also 4-2.
Mikiah Jackson and Nate Re each scored eight points in the loss. Kihara Ngido and AJ Crenshaw each tallied four. Nick Ryan and Grady Trivits scored two and one, respectively.
The Bucs started out hot, outscoring Beacon 15-5 in the first quarter. The Bucs doubled up the Vikings 14-7 in the second period to build a large halftime lead. Milford continued its strong play in the second half, outscoring the Vikings 22-15.
"I was proud that the boys competed til the end despite the score,” said Beacon coach Sean O’Grady. “I'm hoping we can start playing with more confidence regardless of who we are playing against."
Mike Mullen paced the Bucs with 22 points.
Beacon will travel to Selbyville Middle Wednesday, Jan. 10.
