The Beacon boys’ lacrosse team defeated its district rival Mariner 16-2 May 6 at Cape’s Legends Stadium.
Mariner is 3-6, while the Beacon squad moves to 7-0.
Beacon took an 11-0 score into the halftime break. They continued in the second half, garnering a 5-2 advantage to finish with a 16-2 victory.
Beacon eighth-grader Grady Trivits cranked the rock into the goal four times. Teammates Pierce Conway and Max Wyshock tallied three scores, while Liam Durand scored two goals. Brady Sherman and Killian Davis each scored a goal.
Owen Miafodzyeu and Max Lawson scored a goal for Mariner.
The Mariner Vikings took the win in the B game by a 2-0 score. Maxwell Lawson scored both goals.
Dan has worked for the Cape Gazette for more than 30 years as a photographer and reporter, covering high school sports and happenings around eastern Sussex County. He won a photography award from the National Newspaper Association, and numerous awards from the Maryland, Delaware, D.C. Press Association. A Delaware native, Dan graduated from Cape in 1972 and returned as a teacher and coach in the 1980s. He retired from the classroom in 2016. He was inducted into Cape High’s Legends Stadium in 2016. In his spare time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife, two sons, grandchildren and dogs.
