Beacon educational office professional wins statewide award
Beacon Middle School Senior Secretary Katina Norwood was recently named as the 2025 Educational Office Professional of the Year by the Delaware Association of Educational Office Professionals.
The award recognizes outstanding performance, dedication and contributions to the success of a school’s educational mission through exemplary office support.
Norwood was selected from a group of highly qualified candidates across the region for her professionalism, commitment to students and staff, and ability to foster a welcoming and organized school environment.
“Katina is the anchor of our front office and school operations,” said Dr. Kathleen Sheehan, principal of Beacon Middle School. “Her attention to detail, calm presence and unwavering support make her an invaluable part of our team. This recognition is so well deserved.”
Norwood has served in the role of senior secretary for five years, providing essential support in daily operations, student services and communication among staff, parents and the community. Colleagues describe her as the glue that holds the school together and someone who always goes the extra mile.
Prior to working at Beacon, Norwood was a senior secretary at the Cape district office. She has been with the district since 2008, when she started working at Cape Henlopen High School.
Norwood expressed gratitude to her colleagues and the school community. “I’m incredibly honored and humbled by this recognition. Working at Beacon is a joy, and I’m thankful every day to be part of such a dedicated and caring team,” she said.
