Beacon Middle More Life students explore future opportunities

Students from Beacon Middle School’s More Life mentoring group spent an inspiring day exploring future career and college opportunities during visits to Salisbury University and Calvary Fabrication in Maryland.
At Calvary Fabrication in Delmar, the young men learned firsthand about careers in welding and fabrication. Owner Darryl Gassaway and his associates shared their personal career and life experiences, offering valuable insight into the trade while answering thoughtful questions from the students. The visit provided a meaningful look at the skills, dedication and creativity involved in the field.
The group also toured the campus of Salisbury University, where they had a glimpse of college life and enjoyed lunch with head football coach Sherman Wood, several football players and professor Bill Burke. The conversations highlighted the importance of education, perseverance and setting long-term goals.
