The Beacon Middle School soccer team outlasted Selbyville Middle 1-0 Oct. 31 at home.
Barritt Ross scored the winning goal in the second half off a corner from seventh-grade midfielder Brandon Somoza-Lima.
“It was a solid performance against an always-strong Selbyville team,” said Beacon coach Justin Voorheis. “The defense stepped up with solid performances from Wilson Ingerski, Hussain Mahdi, River Elder and Dylan Rasin on defense. Spencer [Copeland] was perfect in goal.”
Vikings goalkeeper Spencer Copeland made six saves in Beacon’s shutout.
The Vikings move to 5-4-1 on the season with one game remaining against Mariner Middle at Cape’s Legends Stadium on Monday, Nov. 5.
