Beebe board chair celebrates nurses

May 10, 2024

On May 6, we celebrate the beginning of Nurses Week. At Beebe Healthcare, they are such an important part of the care that we deliver to Sussex County.

Nurses touch the lives of our patients with their compassion, empathy, skill and expertise. As a board member and community member, I often hear of the great experience that our care team provides, and there is almost always a special story about what one or a group of nurses did to go the extra mile for a patient. In fact, we’ve celebrated four Daisy awards in just the past few months.

I have found myself in the hospital as a patient as well as a parent on a number of occasions, and the care from the nursing staff was outstanding on every occasion. The genuine kindness and dedication of the nurses went above and beyond, making difficult situations more manageable and significantly contributing to our overall well-being.

Many of our nurses get their career started right here in Lewes at our Margaret H. Rollins School of Nursing. The school, with its 100-plus year history, had a 100% NCLEX pass rate in 2023. It was ranked the No. 1 in Delaware for all student outcomes and has been consistently for many years.

The American Nurses Association picks a theme each year for Nurses Week. This year’s theme is “Nurses Make the Difference.”

On behalf of the Beebe Board of Directors, thank you to all of Beebe’s nurses who make the difference every day in the lives of our patients and their families.
