To the Beebe emergency department staff, with my eternal thanks

December 13, 2022

When we contemplated moving to Delaware from Fairfax, Va., two years ago, one of our major concerns was the availability of good healthcare. Gladly, that concern was soon eased.

We were able to secure great primary care physicians, and we have been thrilled to have Beebe Healthcare nearby.

Over the past year, the amazing team at Beebe’s Emergency Department has cared for us in a multitude of ways. From unfortunate tick bites to stitches to my most recent visit due to a fractured arm, Beebe’s ED has provided us with excellent care at every turn.

My arm injury happened inconveniently on a Saturday night, but the caring, empathy, efficiency and professionalism demonstrated by everyone in Beebe’s Lewes ED surpassed my every expectation.

When we arrived in the ED, I was immediately attended to by Philemon P. Bailey, DO, who was working that evening and, as always, Beebe’s excellent nursing team was on the ready. The X-ray technicians arrived quickly to assist, and I felt surrounded by efficient and highly competent care.

We soon learned that I had multiple fractures in my arm. I was advised about my condition, outfitted with a splint, given pain medicine and released. While my recovery will take quite some time, we were literally in and out of Beebe’s ED within an hour.

I will forever remember with eternal thanks every person we interacted with that evening including Dr. Bailey; Sheila Brinkley, RN; Tricia Ecker, PA; and Amanda Leavitt, RN.

My expression of gratitude also extends beyond this letter of thanks. Because of my recent experience, I opted to become a member of Beebe’s 1916 Club. My annual contribution of $1,916 supports this terrific healthcare system in a very real way, and that makes me proud. So proud in fact, that I have encouraged many of my friends and neighbors to do the same.

So, to the Beebe Emergency Department staff, thank you. I cannot express how grateful I am for the excellent care you always provide.

As a community-based, not-for-profit healthcare system, Beebe Healthcare depends on the generous support of the community it serves.
