Beebe team thanks Kay Young for dedicated leadership
Beebe Healthcare and Beebe Medical Foundation officials extend thanks to Kay Young upon her departure from the organization, effective April 3.
Colleagues said Young, who has served as Beebe Medical Foundation executive director of development since January 2020, has been an exceptionally dedicated leader. Her tenure reached remarkable highs, none more significant than successfully leading the largest capital campaign in the foundation’s history. Sussex Supports Beebe Healthcare raised more than $60 million to support the mission of the healthcare system.
“Kay’s passion, energy and leadership drive had a direct impact on the success of our record‑breaking campaign,” said Khalil Saliba, board chair. “Her commitment to Beebe and to advancing philanthropy across Sussex County leaves a lasting legacy.”
Throughout her tenure, Beebe Medical Foundation continued to experience growth among loyal and supportive community members, a testament to Young’s steady, thoughtful and mission‑driven leadership. That effectiveness was further reflected in the engagement of more than 3,000 first‑time donors and more than $1.5 million raised through gifts under $100 – a powerful example of community philanthropy at its finest.
“Serving this remarkable organization and community has been one of the greatest honors of my professional life,” Young said. “Beebe Healthcare is, at its heart, a mission‑driven institution shaped by compassion, innovation and an unwavering commitment to the people of Sussex County. To have played a part in advancing that mission – through the generosity and spirit of philanthropy in this community – has been deeply meaningful to me.
“I am profoundly grateful to our donors, board, my colleagues at the foundation, and Team Beebe, whose generosity and commitment make this work possible every day. Donna and I are blessed to be a part of this community and look forward to this next chapter in our lives.”
Young and Dr. David Tam, Beebe Healthcare president and CEO, went through orientation together, and he said her commitment to Beebe and the foundation remained unwavering throughout her tenure.
“I am sincerely grateful for Kay’s hard work, leadership and dedication to our mission,” Tam said. “Her impact on Beebe Healthcare and the communities we serve will be felt for years to come.”
The ongoing national search for Beebe Healthcare’s next senior vice president and chief philanthropy officer has been productive, and Beebe looks forward to sharing more information with the community in the near future.
