Betty Jane Greenwood, had adventurous spirit
Betty J. (Werstler) Greenwood, 92, passed away Sunday, June 15, 2025, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
Born Feb. 20, 1933, in Gilbertsville, Pa., to Charles R. Werstler Sr. and Anna M. (Yergey) Werstler, she grew up in Ticonderoga, N.Y., and Pottstown, Pa., graduating from Pottstown High School, where her early interests included music and singing.
After raising a family in Exeter Township (Reading), Pa., she worked many years for the Exeter Township School District, eventually retiring as secretary to the superintendent. After retiring, she also lived in Rehoboth Beach, where she worked briefly in the office of Dr. Elizabeth Bell, and then eventually moved on to Fort Lauderdale, Fla.
She is survived by two sons, Glenn D. Christman and Mark E. Christman; granddaughter, Rebecca M. Christman; step-granddaughter, Amber (Aden) Christman; a niece and nephew, Barbara Rakowski and William (Bill) Werstler, and their families; and her partner of many years, Leroy H. Schultz.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Glenn M. Christman, who died in 1987; her second husband, Warren A. Greenwood, who died in 2000; sisters, Jeanne DeAngelo, Elaine Rosenson and Anne Werstler; and brother, Charles Werstler Jr.
She enjoyed spending time with family, reading, traveling, horseback riding, grocery shopping and cooking, solitaire games, and going on adventures with Leroy, including sailing trips to the Bahamas while in her 70s and helicopter rides in upstate New York.
