Betty Marie Garrett, musically inclined

November 5, 2019

Betty Marie Garrett, 82, of Lewes passed away Saturday, Nov. 2, 2019, at her home.   She was born Sept. 1, 1937, in Baltimore, Md., daughter of the late Calvert and Elizabeth (DiMattei) Pritchard.

Ms. Garrett built a career as a bookkeeper and retired from the accounting division of Perdue Farms in Salisbury, Md.  Betty was musically inclined and enjoyed singing, as well as playing the piano and guitar.  She had a delightful wit and shared laughter with many.  Her writing skills were exemplary, and she was a published poet and songwriter.  Going to the beach and watching the ocean while having a slice of pizza was her vision of a perfect day. She was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Ms. Garrett is survived by her daughter, Dana Lucera of Sicklerville, N.J.; her son, Scott Garrett of Wilmington, N.C.; her brother, Ronald Pritchard of Ontario, Canada; her grandchildren: Matthew, Amanda and Ryan; her great-grandchildren: Jasmine, Alexia and Matthew; and her feline companion, Van Gogh.

A celebration of her life will occur later in the spring.  Arrangements are being handled by Parsell Funeral Homes & Crematorium, Atkins-Lodge Chapel, Lewes.
