Big Chill community beach cleanups a success

October 20, 2024

With the help of numerous volunteers, the Big Chill Beach Club team organized and completed nine successful cleanups in Delaware Seashore State Park this summer. In all, more than 150 participants gave their time to collect trash left behind by beachgoers. Buckets full of debris typically included excessive plastic, aluminum cans, food wrappers, cigarette butts and fishing lines, all of which pose serious threats to local ecosystems. Big Chill has been coordinating beach cleanups every summer since 2022.

“As a beachfront restaurant, our mission extends beyond providing a great dining experience. We also want to emphasize the importance of caring for our local environment. These cleanup events truly highlight the difference we can make as a community. I want to thank all the volunteers who came out to do their part in picking up trash and protecting our coastline,” said Emily Burns, marketing coordinator at Big Chill Beach Club. “Plans for future cleanup events and educational initiatives are already in the works for next summer.”
