BIPOC communities grants workshop set Jan. 31
Delaware nonprofits are invited to apply for the BIPOC Leaders and Communities Grants Program at the Delaware Community Foundation. Full guidelines and the application are available at delcf.org/grants. The deadline to apply is 5 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 14.
An optional virtual workshop about this grants program will be held from 1 to 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 31. Register for the workshop by Friday, Jan. 28, at delcf.org/grants.
This year’s Black, Indigenous, People of Color Leaders and Communities Grants will support leaders of color in Delaware and the organizations and communities they serve, as part of DCF’s commitment to build opportunity so all Delaware residents can overcome barriers to success, benefit equitably and thrive. The 2022 grant program is a partnership with the African-American Empowerment Fund of Delaware at the DCF.
The program’s two key goals are to provide capacity-building funding to support BIPOC leaders and support community-driven change in traditionally underrepresented communities.
The DCF awarded its first BIPOC-focused grants in 2021, in partnership with Barclays, to the Afro-American Historical Society in Wilmington to support initiatives focused on Black history, heritage and economic development on the Eastside; Mom’s House of Dover to provide life-skills training, academic support and quality childcare for low-income single parents attending high school or college; and Nuestras Raices Delaware to provide mentoring and workshops for emerging leaders in Sussex County. Those initiatives are continuing with ongoing DCF funding and technical support.
