Bishop to celebrate 13th Annual Mass of Remembrance Sept. 12

The Most Rev. W. Francis Malooly, Bishop of the Catholic Diocese of Wilmington, will preside at the 13th annual Mass of Remembrance at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 32112 Vines Creek Road in Dagsboro beginning at 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 12. Those who were laid to rest in the cemetery over the previous year will be especially remembered at the Mass.

Seating and protection from the weather will be provided. Music will be provided by the music minister from Church of the Holy Cross in Dover. This Mass will fulfill the Sunday obligation for Catholics.

Gate of Heaven Cemetery was dedicated in November 2002 and encompasses 62 acres. Seven acres are now developed. Facilities include an on-site office and service center, a garden mausoleum, columbaria for cremated remains, and a unique bronze shrine dedicated to Mary, Star of the Sea.
