The Blue Moon restaurant in Rehoboth Beach is for sale.
Listed for $4.5 million, the iconic Baltimore Avenue business has been a popular fine-dining restaurant since it was opened in 1981 by Victor Pisapia and Joyce Felton. After decades of success, the original owners sold to Randy Haney, Tim Ragan, and Meg and Lion Gardner in 2008. The Gardners have since moved on, but Haney and Ragan remain at the helm.
Listing agent Carrie Lingo said the business, which remains open, is also for sale, but only to the right buyer.
“The owners, Randy and Tim, are very protective of the business and especially their staff,” said Lingo. “They want to protect their staff as they work toward a transition into their retirement. The business can be available for sale too, but it is going to take the right buyer to ensure the Blue Moon continues on.”
The property comprises two buildings on oversized lots, including an apartment and five grandfathered apartment licenses. The front restaurant building is about 6,600 square feet with three floors and a basement. The rear building is about 1,830 square feet with two floors.
