Book signing event for ‘Interlude at Rehoboth’ set Oct. 21
Delaware resident Jean Youkers will sign copies of her new novel, “Interlude at Rehoboth,” from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 21, at Browseabout Books, 133 Rehoboth Ave., Rehoboth Beach.
“Interlude at Rehoboth” is the sequel to “Lunch Bucket Lists,” which introduced Laura, Elizabeth, Clarissa and Orchid, four talented, mature women who encourage each other as they pursue their bucket list goals and untangle their bizarre conflicts with good humor.
In “Interlude at Rehoboth,” the women face their biggest challenge when Laura is sidelined by an unexpected hospital stay, and the others jump in to manage her trendy Baltimore Avenue shop, Interlude. Natalie, Laura’s daughter, arrives with tiny granddaughter in tow to lend support, only to be outraged when she finds Laura is married to a much younger man. Clarissa overcomes a new fear of flying with help from Cecily, the hospital social worker who joins their group. Elizabeth prepares to audition for “Jeopardy,” while struggling with a decision about retirement. Being trapped in a building alone with a potentially dangerous animal aids in her decision, following her rescue by friends, police and the psychic Mrs. Knowl.
Other surprises and crises keep the women on high alert, engrossed in life in their beloved beach town and on the boardwalk, while the Atlantic Ocean provides a backdrop of stability.
