Boot scootin’ at Camp Arrowhead

Line dancing day camp draws big crowd
January 12, 2024

Line dancing has been increasing in popularity over the last couple of years in Sussex County. R and R Line Dancing and Event Productions, comprising Rhonda Lerner and Reny Toledo, curated a line dance day camp Jan. 6 at Camp Arrowhead near Lewes. The sold-out workshop had a morning session with dance lessons and dance reviews followed by a three-hour afternoon session of open dance.

Joining Toledo and Lerner were special guests Lily Parsons and Rob Holley. Parsons, of Buckles & Boots Line Dancing, regularly teaches at Lefty’s Alley and Eats, Cape Henlopen Elks Lodge, Mulligans in Middletown and 9 East Taphouse in Dover. She is also a frequent guest instructor at Prospectors in Mt. Laurel, N.J. Holley is from Bear and has been country line dancing since 2006, teaching locally since 2012. An accomplished choreographer, Holley has choreographed or co-choreographed more than 83 dances. He travels to and teaches at many major national dance events. Toledo and Lerner, who offer dance lessons in both Delaware and Maryland, have plans to bring more line dancing events to the area in 2024.

“My friend and instructor Kelly Pettyjohn brought us to this workshop today, and we had a blast,” said Jennifer Lexy Lefebvre. “Beautiful place to dance with excellent instructors. It was a great event made for all levels of dancers.”

“Today’s workshop brought together so many dancers from all over,” said veteran dancer Amanda Rogers. “It was a great opportunity to learn the newest dances from a variety of choreographers.”

Lerner hopes to make line dance camp an annual event.
