Breast cancer coalition launches Yes2Health program

May 22, 2018

The Delaware Breast Cancer Coalition announced a new program in Rehoboth Beach, Yes2Health. The program will feature 12 weekly walking meet-ups and biweekly education programs including fitness, health and wellness education. The sessions will establish a nurturing, supportive and safe environment for interested women who are struggling with health issues that put them at risk for developing breast cancer and/or other chronic illness.

The target audience for the program is women age 40 and over at risk for breast cancer and/or with at least one of the following: hypertension, high cholesterol, diabetes or a body mass index of 30 or above. Space is limited to 12 participants.

Connie Holdridge, DBCC program manager of education and survivorship in Sussex County, said, “We are told by doctors and health advisors that exercise and healthy living is one way to reduce your risk for breast cancer and other health conditions, but it can be challenging for busy women to make the commitment to changing their lifestyle. We hope this program will encourage women to prioritize their health, and provide an opportunity to take these lessons and apply them to their everyday routine. This is true for breast cancer, along with many other health conditions like high blood pressure, cholesterol and obesity.”

The weekly sessions will take place from 9:30 to 11 a.m., Wednesdays, starting June 6. The program is free. To sign up, contact Connie Holdridge at choldridge@debreastcancer.org or call 302-212-2947.
