A Bridgeville man prohibited from possessing firearms faces multiple charges after police say they found weapons in his home.
Members of the Delaware State Police Firearms Transaction and Purchasing Unit and the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team responded Nov. 6 to a residence on the 11000 block of Silent Hill Road in Bridgeville, police said, after a man prohibited from possessing weapons had trespassed on an adjacent property with a concealed handgun. Inside the home, police said they found the following:
- Desert Eagle .44 caliber handgun
- Sig Sauer SP2340 handgun
- Sig Sauer P938 handgun
- Sig Sauer M-400 rifle
- Remington 870 12-gauge shotgun
- Remington 870 20-gauge shotgun
- Remington 1100 12-gauge shotgun
- Remington 700 .308 caliber rifle
- Marlin .17 caliber rifle
- Mossberg 640 .22 caliber rifle
- Assorted ammunition.
Police took Richard Banks, 55, into custody without incident. As a convicted felon who’s prohibited from possessing a firearm or ammunition, police said, Banks was taken to Troop 5 where he was charged with carrying a concealed deadly weapon, 12 counts possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, 11 counts of possession of a firearm or destructive weapon by a person prohibited with a prior conviction, possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited with a prior violent crime or felony, and third-degree criminal trespass. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2, and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution in default of $86,001 secured bond.
