Browseabout to host Jill Hicks signing books Sept. 7

September 5, 2019

Jill Hicks will return to Browseabout Books at 11 a.m., Saturday, Sept. 7, to sign copies of her latest release, “Sundial.”

Hicks has spent her summers boating on the Chesapeake Bay, Long Island Sound and Delaware Bay. Her novels reflect the romantic flavors of life on and around the water. Her skillful use of first-person narrative and dialogue engages her readers in the personal lives of her characters.

Unexpected twists and turns mirror the fragile complexities of people’s lives and the relationships they have built – and destroyed – along the way. As Hicks’ stories unfold, readers become invested in the page-turning emotions, environments and events.

“Sundial” is set on the North East River at the head of the Chesapeake Bay. The main character, Faith Livingston, grew up on the river and moved to Seattle after marrying. She now has two young children. During an extended return visit to the river, Faith has the opportunity to resolve her greatest what-if. When presented with a do-over involving those who still hold her heart, how far is she willing to go? Is it possible to reconcile her present life in Seattle with her unforgettable past on the river?

Hicks’s other novels include a trilogy set in Lewes: “Bay Avenue I: The Inheritance,” “Bay Avenue II: The Courtship” and “Bay Avenue III: Pratt-ically Speaking.” “The Long Climb Back” is set in Zion Canyon, Utah, and “Adrift” is set in the Outer Banks of North Carolina.

Her novels will keep the reader spellbound, adding another depth of dimension to any real or imagined vacation.
