Arriving in the Cape Region with no less than 16 signature wing sauces, five spice rubs and countless other combinations, Buffalo Wild Wings opened its doors this month, and company officials say it's been bustling since day one.
"The opening was fantastic. It was everything we thought it would be," Buffalo Wild Wings Franchise Director of Operations Mark Ford said. "There was a lot of anticipation for us opening, and they came out in droves."
Two retail spaces in the shopping center were renovated to create the latest location, whose layout is different from other Delaware locations, Ford said. At this location, the bar seating is more central, setting up the spot to be a prime-time football favorite.
"This whole look and feel of the place is new for us too," Ford said. "It is perfect for football season. That's what most people want to do is sit at the bar, have a drink and yell at the screens."
That's 64 screens, to be exact, including four projection screens, two 80-inch screens, 11 more 60-inch screens and 47 42-inch flat screen televisions.
That means if a game is on television, if it's not on already, they will find it for you at Buffalo Wild Wings and make sure it gets on screen, he said.
With two dining rooms in addition to the 25-table cocktail area, marketing director Alison MacKenzie said Buffalo Wild Wings works to accommodate everyone in the spirited game-day atmosphere.
"There is nothing like this concept down in this area," MacKenzie said. "We consider ourselves to be a family-friendly sports-themed restaurant. There is nothing comparable."
The menu features an eight-item kids menu, as well as options to customize nearly every item: build-your-own burger and chicken sandwiches, select sauces or rubs for bone-in or boneless wings or guests are welcome to make substitutions.
“Our bread-n-butter is obviously the wings and where our wings stand out is the 16 sauces and five rubs. They go everywhere from sweet-and-pleasant tasting to blazing, which is painful,” she said. “You can add the sauces to anything we have. If you want to mix them, you can mix them, but I personally am a sauce purist.”
Wings are available in all flavors, ordered in increments of five. They are served in paper boats with stickers to identify different sauces and rubs, with ranch or blue cheese, carrots or celery – a nearly endless array of choices.
The chain also prides itself on presenting a welcoming, community atmosphere, MacKenzie said, and after Labor Day, the restaurant will be available Monday and Wednesday nights for fundraising opportunities.
“We are very community-oriented and we do community fundraisers for a 20 percent donation percentage,” she said. “It’s a surprisingly large menu for a wing place, and there really is something for everybody.”
Buffalo Wild Wings is open 11 a.m. to 1 a.m., daily. For more information, call 302-727-5946 or go to www.buffalowildwings.com.
