Building boom underway in Cape Region

Commercial, housing projects fuel construction increase
January 4, 2017

There is no doubt a building boom is taking place in the Cape Region with commercial and residential projects. Under construction or approved are subdivisions and other housing projects with more than 4,200 units or lots as well as projects with 372 apartments.

Nine area projects with more than 1,500 lots or units have either been reviewed by the Office of State Planning Coordination's Preliminary Land Use Service over the past three years or are pending action by Sussex County officials.

If all of the proposed subdivisions and apartment complexes are built, more than 6,000 units could be constructed in the the Lewes-Rehoboth Beach-Milton area over the next few years.
